My Korean school lunch: beef brisket soybean paste soup (차돌박이된장국), white rice (백미밥), oven grilled mackerel (고등어오븐구이), seasoned burdock root (우엉조림), perilla leaf kimchi (깻잎김치), and skewered sausages and rice cakes (소떡소떡).

Beef brisket soybean paste soup
  • English: Beef brisket soybean paste soup
    Korean: 차돌박이된장국
    Romanized: Chadolbaki-deonjangguk
    • Basic ingredients: beef brisket, radish, green onion, Cheongyang chili pepper, and rice water.
    • Seasoning: soybean paste, red chili paste, garlic, and sugar.

White rice

    Korean: 백미밥
    Romanized: Baekmibap

Oven grilled mackerel
  • English: Oven grilled mackerel
    Korean: 고등어오븐구이
    Romanized: Godeungeo-obeun-gui

Seasoned burdock root
  • English: Seasoned burdock root
    Korean: 우엉조림
    Romanized: Ueong-jorim
    • Basic ingredients: burdock root and vinegar.
    • Seasoning: water, soy sauce, sugar, starch syrup, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. 


Perilla leaf kimchi

    Korean: 깻잎김치
    Romanized: Kkaennip-kimchi
    • Basic ingredients: perilla leaf, soy sauce, fish sauce, plum extract, Oligo syrup, and chili powder.
    • Seasoning: onion, carrot, chives, garlic, and sesame salt.

    Korean: 소떡소떡
    Romanized: Sotteok-sotteok
    • Basic ingredients: Vienna sausage and tteokbokki rice cake.
    • Seasoning: red chili paste, Oligo syrup, soy sauce, and water.
